The club was formed in 1983 when the Kiwi Swimming Club and the Onekawa Nadodores Club amalgamated. Napier Aquahawks has had and continues to have success at regional, national and international standards with members winning titles at all levels. Swimmers from Aquahawks have represented New Zealand at Commonwealth and Olympic levels with our last Olympic representative being Sharon Musson at Seoul in 1988.

Our swimmers have also had success with surf lifesaving, triathlon and marathon swimming with three members conquering Cook Strait.
